Pat McAfee hilariously debunks cause of Aaron Rodgers limping during Jets practice: "Effects from Covid toe"

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers took the next step in his comeback from an Achilles injury that he suffered in Week 1 last season. The veteran quarterback participated in OTA's this week with the New York Jets; however, there was one moment of concern when he was seen limping.

While fans were concerned that it was the Achilles injury, ESPN's Pat McAfee debunked the theory on his show on Thursday afternoon.

While speaking to fellow ESPN personality Mike Greenberg, he said that fans don't have anything to worry about and jokingly said that it was a blister and then blamed "COVID toe" for the reason Rodgers was limping.

"I got some breaking news from sources, once again this is journalism, yesterday some videos had the internet of Aaron Rodgers taking off his shoes and his socks. "Oh no is there something wrong with the Achilles again?" then there was some reps, was he running at full speed, he looked like his Achilles was hurting a little bit more," McAfee said.

"From the source that I have, it was blister prevention; and potential lingering effects from COVID toe, do not know if this is lingering effects, that is from an anonymous source."

Pat McAfee's reference to "Covid toe" dates back to November 2021, when Aaron Rodgers appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show."

“I felt good in just a few days. I didn’t have any lingering effects other than Covid toe," Rodgers said.

He said at the time that physically he was in good shape except for a toe injury. He blamed the symptoms on the positive COVID-19 diagnosis he was given less than a month before that.

Aaron Rodgers received treatment on feet during OTA's practice

Nearly nine months ago, quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his debut with the New York Jets. Just four plays into the Week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury that cost him the entire season.

While his recovery and rehabilitation process were swift, there are apparently still some lingering issues for the 40-year-old.

A video of Rodgers sitting down and tending to his foot with the help of a trainer, as well as a video of him limping, quickly circulated on social media on Wednesday.

SNY Sports New York Jets' account shared the video as well as reporting that the quarterback had 'treatment' on his feet and that he returned to practice without any restrictions. The video still has fans nervous that Rodgers won't be 100% healthy when the season kicks off.
