If the NFL wanted the Houston Texans vs Kansas City Chiefs divisional round matchup to stay in the minds of NFL fans for a while, they did a pretty good job over the weekend. On Saturday, the Texans and Chiefs went at it at Arrowhead Stadium with a spot in the AFC championship game on the line.
With no Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell, CJ Stroud and the Texans had a Herculean task in front of them but it didn't deter them from taking the fight to the Chiefs. While the Texans' offense managed to keep the Chiefs' defense honest, their defense had a tough time keeping Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Co. in check.
When the dust settled, the Texans were hit with eight penalties for 82 yards while the Chiefs received four penalties for 29 yards. While the disparity was glaring, a couple of major roughing-the-passer calls went against the Texans' defense, prompting the age-old cries that the NFL is rigged.

In an interview on Tuesday with 96.5 The Fan, Mahomes made his feelings clear on all the accusations against the referees. He shared his take during his interview with Carrington Harrison on "The Drive."
“I’ve kind of learned that no matter what happens during the game, something is going to come out about (the officials) if you win, if you continue to win," Mahomes said. "I don’t really pay attention to it. I’ve been on both sides of it as far as how I’ve felt that calls were made. But at the end of the day, those guys are doing their best to make the best calls.
“Obviously, there were calls here and there that people didn’t agree with, but at the same time I think there were a lot of other plays that really decided the outcome of that football game.”
Patrick Mahomes' teammate throws shade at Houston Texans players' denial
Several members of the Houston Texans, including DeMeco Ryans, CJ Stroud, Joe Mixon and Will Anderson Jr., were vocal about what they perceived to be varying forms of bias from the officiating crew.
Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson also shared his thoughts.
"I miss when grown men took they losses like a man," Watson tweeted on Sunday. "A new day and age though."
The Chiefs have made it to their seventh straight AFC title game. If they reach it again next season, they will match Tom Brady and the New England Patriots' NFL record.
