Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have edged closer to NFL history. Staying at the top of their game for years, the team has the opportunity to bring home a third straight Super Bowl win.
While their Divisional Round win against the Houston Texans isn't devoid of controversy, the team continues to focus on their next task: the AFC Conference Championship Game.
Patrick Mahomes, who benefited from some questionable officiating, is already prepared for the upcoming challenge. In an Instagram post featuring an on-field moment of his, Mahomes echoed his wife, Brittany's words to celebrate their win.

His wife Brittany Mahomes, who made her first appearance on the NFL field since baby girl Golden Raye's birth, also posted the same message after their 23-14 win.
"On to the next🔥," Brittany wrote.
Mahomes even reacted to Brittany's post, adding a small heart for his wife.
Brittany is usually present at every Chiefs game and has been cheering him on since high school. Garnering a following of over two million on her personal account, Brittany is known to often share her candid thoughts, especially regarding her family and the Chiefs.
Why Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' win against the Texans was controversial
As mentioned, the Chiefs' victory against the Texans wasn't smooth sailing. Houston fans raged against the officiating, accusing referees of favoring the winning team.
After the game, referee Clay Martin spoke about the same. He shed light on the roughing of the passer calls that eventually benefitted Mahomes.
"I had forcible contact to the face mask area and so I went with roughing the passer on that play," Martin said. "So, he slid, obviously, and when he slides, he is considered defenseless. The onus is on the defender. I had forcible contact there to the hairline, to the helmet."
Despite the controversial nature of the win, the Chiefs appear locked in as the team sails towards another possible AFC Conference Championship win. With the Buffalo Bills-Baltimore Ravens game pending, Mahomes and the Chiefs would face one of them on Jan. 26.
