Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is tipped as Tom Brady's successor as the face of the NFL and so far has done an excellent job. With Brady now retired, the Chiefs quarterback will continue to chase his legacy.
Mahomes recently appeared on Brady's "Let's Go!" podcast and delivered a retirement message to Brady. The Chiefs no. 15 also joked about how Brady not being in the NFL anymore is good for him.
Here's what Patrick Mahomes said to Tom Brady in his retirement message in the latest episode:

"What's up, Tom, I just want to say congrats on retirement. You have a hell of a career that all of us will be chasing for a very long time. Happy for you. But I'm just a little bit happy to see you go too, so congrats man."
In reply to Mahomes' special message, Tom Brady said:
"I understand the feeling. Thanks, Patrick. I know he knows how highly I think of him and got a lot of different chances to spend time with him and love watching him play. I love obviously his style and his charisma..."
Brady added:
"He's all about the team too and wish him nothing but the best and he's got a big game coming up this week. These are the ones you remember the rest of your life. So I'm excited to watch him play like always."
Mahomes and Brady squared off in the 2021 Super Bowl, which the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won. That defeat will sting Mahomes for the rest of his life, but he is on the right track to matching Tom Brady's greatness in the sport.
Brady, for one, is looking forward to the next chapter of his life and spending time with his family. He'll be in the Fox Sports broadcast booth starting in 2024.
Patrick Mahomes needs to win the Super Bowl this week
Patrick Mahomes has already made three Super Bowl appearances in his young NFL career. So far, he is 1-1 in Super Bowls and hasn't played his best football on the biggest stage.
On Sunday, he will have the chance to win his second Super Bowl, but the Philadelphia Eagles will stand in his way. To stay on track for GOAT conversations, Mahomes must win on Sunday.
If Mahomes loses his second Super Bowl in three years, people will give him the LeBron James treatment. They will continue to claim that Brady's legacy, like Michael Jordan's in basketball, is unattainable.
