Patrick Mahomes opens up to Tom Brady about special 'protector' bond with daughter Sterling 

Apart from being one of the most dominating NFL quarterbacks, Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes is a caring father. In fact, Mahomes has been embracing fatherhood very well. Besides, the quarterback recently revealed wanting to have a son first.

Tom Brady interviewed Mahomes for NFL on Fox, during which the two talked about fatherhood. When Brady asked Mahomes about his third child, the Chiefs quarterback opened up about his experience being a father to two kids. Talking about kids, Mahomes recalled his special bond with his daughter, Sterling.

"Growing up I always wanted to have a boy first and so he could grow up in the club houses and stuff like that. And then I had a girl, and it's like God knew exactly what to do with me. He helped me mature as a man, and there's just a different bond with a daughter because you have to be that protector," Mahomes said. (2:01)

"I truly appreciate every moment because I have these kids now. I'm not old yet, but I mean, these NFL years are flying by, and I want to make sure I appreciate these times that I have, where they're able to come out and see me play the sport that I love."

Mahomes' wife, Brittany, loves posting pictures of their kids, Sterling and Bronze, on social media. Most recently, the SI model shared an Instagram post featuring snapshots with kids from a Kansas City Currents game. Brittany Mahomes also loves talking about her kids whenever she gets a chance.

Not only Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, but the couple's love for Taylor Swift has passed on to their kids. Sterling and Bronze are huge fans of the "All Too Well" singer and love spending time with her whenever she's in town.

Patrick Mahomes appeared on "The Drive with Carrington Harrison" podcast last week. During the podcast, the Chiefs star said Sterling loves to bake with Swift whenever she visits the Mahomes residence.

"She’s made different treats, like muffins and donuts and stuff like that. Sterling’s a big baker as well, so they make some stuff together sometimes. I’m not gonna say I don’t eat them. She’s as good as everyone’s talked about. She’s as great as it comes to baking," Mahomes said.

Despite a hectic schedule, including on-field and off-field work, Mahomes still makes time to spend with kids. Interestingly, he has also figured out a trick to manage family time when not in town.
