On Friday, Patrick Mahomes and his family attended Blue Valley West's football game. It wasn't the first time that Mahomes and even some of his Kansas City Chiefs teammates have been in attendance to watch high school football games this season.
The Chiefs quarterback spoke to reporters on Wednesday as part of his weekly media appearance. Mahomes said that watching high school athletes is his way of supporting the community. He added that Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt is adamant each season about community involvement as a way to give back to their loyal fans.
“The Chiefs organization in general has had a great history of having a great presence in this community," Mahomes said. "It’s something that Clark Hunt talks about in the first meeting that we have every single year is giving back to the community because they give so much to us and being at Arrowhead (Stadium) every single week and showing support to our foundations."

Patrick Mahomes to be inducted into Texas High School Hall of Fame
Patrick Mahomes will be honored for his success during his high school career. It was announced on Tuesday that he will be inducted into the Texas High School Hall of Fame.
The former Whitehouse High School dual-sport athlete in football and baseball will be inducted in May 2025. He isn't the only notable name on the list of inductees as Heisman Trophy-winning QB Robert Griffin III, Pat Thomas, Brad Goebel and John C. Norman round out the class.
As a senior in 2013, Mahomes threw for 4,619 yards, rushed for 948 yards, with 50 touchdowns through the air and ran for 15 touchdowns. He then went on to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders for three seasons before he was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.
