Patrick Mahomes welcomed Golden Raye, his third child and second daughter with wife Brittany, on Sunday. But even then, he did not stop thinking about football.
During his media availability on Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback revealed that Brittany had let him watch the Wild Card Round during her time in labor. In the first of those three matchups, the Buffalo Bills routed the Denver Broncos 31-7 to put themselves one game away from facing the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
He said:
“It was cool that football was on TV when I was in the hospital, so I got to watch a little bit.”

Patrick Mahomes open to possibility of fourth child with Brittany
Back in July 2024, just a few days after he and wife Brittany announced that they were expecting Golden Raye, Patrick Mahomes was asked about the possibility of having a fourth to join her, Sterling Skye, and Patrick Lavon III aka "Bronze". At the time, he denied the possibility that it would happen:
“I’m done. I’ll say that. I said three and I’m done.”
But on Tuesday, he changed his tone somewhat: (Start at 14:46)
"I'm good with three for right now. We'll see down the line, maybe. But my goal was always three. So, we've had three. And we'll stick there for a while and see if we need to come back and get another one later on."
He also discussed how he has been enjoying the first few days of Golden Raye's life - with Brittany's help:
"I'm just supporting. Brittany crushed it. It's cool to welcome another baby girl in our family and see how our kids react to her. Having baby sissy and stuff like that — it's been a lot of fun. Brittany's doing everything. So I'm just trying to be supportive."
As the No. 1 seed in the AFC, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were on a bye during Wild Card Weekend. After having baby No. 3, he will now resume his quest for a third straight title as the Chiefs take on the Houston Texans on Saturday in the divisional round.
The Chiefs beat the Texans 27-19 during their regular-season matchup at Arrowhead in December.
