Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is being honored for his accomplishments during his high school career. The quarterback's father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., shared a video on Instagram of a mural at Whitehouse High School in Texas.
Mahomes Sr., a former professional baseball player, thanked the high school for creating a special piece to honor his son. The mural includes a photo of the Chiefs quarterback and features his career highlights, from high school to college at Texas Tech and his three Super Bowl titles in Kansas City.
"Great job Whitehouse. Y’all did it right."

Mahomes' "Time Magazine" cover and a Super Bowl ring are all included on the wall mural. At the top, the words "We Are Whitehouse" are painted, showing current athletes at the high school that they too can achieve their dreams.
Patrick Mahomes was a two-sport athlete while he attended Whitehouse High School, as he was also impressive on the baseball diamond. During his senior year, he threw 4,619 yards, 50 touchdowns, 948 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns. That same year, he threw a no-hitter (16 Ks) for Whitehouse High School's baseball team.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes doesn't believe he's 'underpaid'
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has led the Kansas City Chiefs to three Super Bowl titles in five seasons. When it comes to annual salary, Mahomes isn't the highest-paid at the position; in fact, he's tied for 11th with Kirk Cousins at $45 million a year.
Considering Mahomes is the only quarterback in the top 11 to win one Super Bowl, let alone three, many have questioned whether he is underpaid. After the recent signings of Tua Tagovailoa and Jordan Love, Mahomes was asked by his reporters about his own contract.
“It’s awesome for the quarterback position, but I think all positions. I know every time a contract comes up, everybody looks at my APY (average per year) and everything like that," Mahomes said.
"I’m doing pretty well myself. For me, it’s just about going out there trying to win football games, trying to make money for my family at the end of the day. I feel like I’m doing a great job of that."
Patrick Mahomes signed his current ten-year extension in 2020, worth up to $503 million. At the time, the quarterback was the highest-paid player in the NFL.
