Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs took their revenge on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday with a somewhat impressive 27-20 win. What's more, they did it in their home stadium - Allegiant.

During their last clash, the Raiders defeated the Chiefs on Christmas Day last season. That happened to be the Chiefs' last defeat of the 2023 season before they went on to win consecutive games to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Soon after the game, Patrick Mahomes posted a series of pictures on his Instagram from the contest. He captioned the post:

"W. ⏰"

There was a surprise shot at the Raiders in the comments section. Bobby Stroupe, the trainer responsible for Mahomes' health, performance and player development, commented:

"Raider rules"

Stroupe's comment was a sly jab at HC Antonio Pierce and his "Patrick Mahomes rules" comment.

Last year, after defeating the Chiefs, when Pierce was still the Raiders' linebackers coach, he made an interesting comment. He said that just like the NBA's Detroit Pistons had "Jordan rules" to "whoop his a**," he had formulated the Patrick Mahomes rules to shut down Mahomes and the Chiefs.

And at the time, it did work. In that Christmas Day game, Mahomes was sacked four times, which was tied for the second most in his career. The Chiefs ended up losing 14-20 to their divisional rivals.

Those rules did not seem to work this time round and the Chiefs extended their winning streak to seven games.

Patrick Mahomes avenges Kermit the Frog taunts

During training camp earlier this year, the Raiders, for whom the last memory of the Chiefs was defeating them on Christmas Day, mocked Mahomes by having a Kermit the Frog-style puppet of him.

At the Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa, California, Trey Taylor made fun of his raspy voice. Days after the incident, when HC Andy Reid was asked about the taunts, he said:

"We don't spend a lot of time here with puppets."

When asked about the incident, Pierce made it clear that he had taken it up with the players and had "nipped it in the bud." And when Mahomes was asked about it he merely said, "It'll get handled when it gets handled."

We don't know if he had this in mind when walking into Allegiant Stadium, but handle it he did! Mahomes and the Chiefs had the last laugh after they defeated the Raiders in their home stadium.
