Patrick Mahomes had a sensational last season and now he has added another feather to his hat by winning the ESPYs NFL Player of the Year award. Wife Brittany Mahomes took to social media to remind everyone of her husband’s brilliance on the field.

Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl back-to-back last season. The 28-year-old also won the Super Bowl MVP for the third time. Now he has capped off this season by clinching The ESPYs NFL Player of the Year, beating out the likes of Lamar Jackson and Christian McCaffrey.

The three-time Super Bowl winner achieved the rare feat of winning the award back-to-back as well. He became the sixth person ever to do so. Wife Brittany Mahomes took to Instagram to post a story of the announcement of Patrick’s win with the caption:

Patrick Mahomes won the coveted award for the third time in his career. He first lifted the ESPYs trophy in 2019 for his performances in the 2018 season despite not reaching the Super Bowl. Mahomes also won his first NFL MVP in the same year.

Apart from NFL Player of the Year, Patrick Mahomes is also nominated for Best Athlete in the Men’s Sports category. Last year, he won this award too.

Who won The ESPYs NFL Player of the Year more than Patrick Mahomes?

With his third victory, Mahomes has cemented his place in the history of football. To date, only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have won three awards, which has been in place since 1993. Now, their names will be joined with the best QB of this generation.

However, there is one QB who has clinched this award more than three times, Aaron Rodgers. A-Rod has lifted The ESPYs NFL Player of the Year on four occasions. Rodgers’ last win came in 2017, and he will turn 41 this December.

Being only 28, time is on the side of Mahomes, with plenty of football still left in him. The Chiefs shot caller has the opportunity to equal Rodgers’ record or go even beyond that.
