Patriots fans in crisis as Drake Maye suffers head injury vs. Jets- "End this season already my God" 

Quarterback Drake Maye finally had his opportunity to start and show the New England Patriots fans what he had to offer. Though the last few weeks have been rough, Maye was still getting a chance, until Sunday afternoon.

Maye suffered a head injury in the first half of the Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets. New England shared an update on X of Maye's status and said that he was 'questionable' to return to the game.

Fans on social media were to quick to express their disappointment with this outcome for their rookie quarterback. Some fans of the team, who was 1-6 heading into Sunday's game, called for the season to end.

Some fans saw Drake Maye as the only bright spot in the season and the young quarterback suffering an injury was extremely disappointing to them. Some thought about what this news mean for the New England Patriots and the quarterback moving forward. With some fans wondering if Jacoby Brissett would get yet another chance as starter.

The 22-year-old quarterback was a standout at the University of North Carolina before he was drafted by the New England Patriots. Having started twice this season, Drake Maye has completed 50 of 78 passes for 541 passing yards and five touchdowns.

What happened to Patriots QB Drake Maye?

With one minute remaining in the first quarter, Drake Maye and the New England Patriots led the New York Jets 7-6. The Patriots touchdown was a 17-yard rush by Maye who attempted to make another play with his legs and began to slide when he was hit by Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood.

The collision was a head-to-head hit and Sherwood was not flagged for the play. Maye was clearly dazed and slow to get up and was tended to by the New England Patriots medical staff.

Maye was taken to the locker room to be evaluated further for a concussion and was listed as 'questionable' to return. At halftime, New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo told reporters that Maye won't return to the game.
