Matthew Judon has put together an incredible season for the New England Patriots. It has been so incredible that the NFLPA and NFL are potentially concerned that he might be using performance-enhancing drugs.
Judon was selected for a random drug test, but these tests often come after a dominant performance. The pass rusher recorded 1.5 sacks on Monday night against the Arizona Cardinals and is now being asked to take a drug test.
The star defensive player wasn't too pleased with that and took to Twitter to air his greivances.
Judon tweeted:

"Dear NFLPA, NFL: leave me the F alone please. It’s no way this is random. I take melatonin to sleep sometimes. The rest is just vibes."
He said he only takes melatonin on occasion, but that his defensive prowess is all natural. He has dominated all year and it has gotten to the point where the NFL isn't sure he's doing it legitimately.
While that is clearly an annoyance for Judon, it can also be seen as a compliment. Players who don't put up dominant performances are drug tested less often. Clearly, he has the attention of the league and that is due to top notch form all year long.
Can Matthew Judon win Defensive Player of the Year?
As mentioned, the New England pass rusher has been a dominant force for the entirety of the season. The Patriots are barely clinging to a playoff spot right now and their defense, led and anchored by Matthew Judon, is perhaps the biggest reason why.
The pass rusher is tied for first in the league with 14.5 sacks. He also has 50 total tackles, three passes defended and a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He's been on a tear with six sacks in the previous five games.
However, he's not the favorite for the Defensive Player of the Year award. That would be Micah Parsons. Per Betting Pros, here are the odds right now:
- Parsons -250
- Judon +5000
- Chris Jones +5000
- Khalil Mack +10000
- Jeffery Simmons +15000
- Zadarius Smith +15000
- Justin Simmons +15000
Right now, Judon faces an uphill battle to catch Parsons, who has been outstanding on defense. However, the race isn't over just yet.
