The New York Giants had one of the worst wins of the season, as weird as it can seem. They defeated the Indianapolis Colts 45-33, but the win took them away from the first overall pick in the draft with one week to go in the regular season.
This was the Giants' best offensive performance in a long time. They had not scored 40 points since the 2019 season, and while it eliminated the Colts from playoff contention, New York now holds the 4th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, putting them further away from a new franchise quarterback.
After the (unfortunate?) Giants win, the New England Patriots officially became the team with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, barring a Week 18 win over the Buffalo Bills. Notable Patriots fan Bill Simmons took to Twitter to show his appreciation for their rivals:

2025 NFL draft order after New York Giants win
Entering Week 18, Brian Daboll's team is holding the fourth overall pick, which could ascend to third if the Cleveland Browns defeat the Miami Dolphins.
One win separates the ninth starting picks in the 2025 draft. This is what the top 10 order currently looks like:
- New England Patriots (3-13)
- Tennessee Titans (3-13)
- Cleveland Browns (3-12)
- New York Giants (3-13)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (4-12)
- New York Jets (4-12)
- Carolina Panthers (4-12)
- Las Vegas Raiders (4-12)
- Chicago Bears (4-12)
- New Orleans Saints (5-11)
The tiebreaker criteria for teams with the same amount of wins is the strength of their schedule.
The Patriots are highly likely to trade the first overall pick if they finish the season with another loss. With Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders coming to the draft, a team with a quarterback need will look to move up and pick him, which could net them a huge amount of picks.
New York has been criticized for a lot of moves this season, and with Saquon Barkley crossing the 2,000-yard mark for the Philadelphia Eagles, they are under even more scrutiny. A quarterback in the draft would help, but today's win didn't help their chances of landing a new passer.
