Washington Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves had a memorable night on Sunday. Not only did he and the Commanders clinch a playoff spot, but he also capped the night off by proposing to his longtime girlfriend, Mikaela Worley, on the sidelines.

In a touching post on Instagram, Reaves shared his love and admiration for Worley and wrote about her support through his trials and tribulations. Reaves mentioned his ACL tear last season and how he was at his lowest at the time. He said that her support during that period helped him get back on the field.

"A year ago I was at one of my lowest," Reaves wrote. "A year later, you helped get me back to my best! Everytime life tore me down, you built me right back up and spoke life into me! You carried the weight when I couldn't during some tough days (all that PA school definitely came in handy lol!) God makes no mistakes, and he gave me you when I needed you most!"

Speaking about their story he said:

"8+ years of friendship, a lifetime to go as one! I meant it when I said 5life! I love you Mikaela R Worley PA-C❤️ Proverbs 18:22"

In the photos, the Washington Commanders safety included snapshots of their engagement on Sunday night and also a photo of him in hospital last season when he tore his ACL.

Jeremy Reaves revealed thought process behind post-game proposal

Washington Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves and his new fiancee Mikaela Worley have been together for eight years. The two have supported each other throughout their relationship and Reaves decided it was time to propose.

He told reporters after Sunday's playoff clinching overtime win, that on Friday he spoke to Mikaela Worley's family and decided a postgame proposal was the route he wanted to take. Thankfully, the Washington Commanders pulled off the win over the Atlanta Falcons, or it may not have happened.

"I hate losing, so there's no way I could have done that in the right spirit after a loss," Reaves said. "That thing was burning a hole in my pocket. If we win this game, it's destiny. She's earned it. I can't say enough about her. When I was at my lowest last year, she was there to pick me up every day. She showed up. That's my best friend. Been my best friend since high school."
