Raiders fans celebrate as Las Vegas drafts Ashton Jeanty with No. 6 pick - "This is the best day of my life"

Ashton Jeanty went in the first round to Las Vegas after the Raiders picked him with the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He is widely regarded as one of the best running back prospects to enter the draft in recent years, and the AFC West's team's faithful were pumped.

The Raiders needed a running back desperately. They were the worst team in the running game last season and saw Josh Jacobs, whom they let leave for Green Bay, tearing it up for the Packers. With new head coach Pete Carroll prioritizing the running game in his offensive schemes, they needed a player like Ashton Jeanty. It will be welcome news for new quarterback Geno Smith, who did not have the best rushing game support behind him last year in Seattle either.

It was not just the fans who were elated with selecting Jeanty. The Raiders' general manager was equally effusive.

"It meets the need and the best player meet together and you kind of just feel that’s a perfect storm at that point too. … He’s the perfect player for us this year and we were thrilled to make him a Raider.” - said general manager, John Spytek.

With new quarterback Geno Smith having Brock Bowers and the Boise State running back in his arsenal, Las Vegas will hope to compete better than they have in recent years.
