Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell had taken over the starting job after Gardner Minshew injured his collarbone. The Raiders are now without another quarterback as O'Connell suffered a leg injury in the second half of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As O'Connell got rid of the ball, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Calijah Kancey hit him, pushing him to the ground. The quarterback was tended to by the Raiders medical staff and his leg was placed in an air cast and he was taken off the field on a cart.
Fans on social media couldn't believe that Kancey didn't get penalized on a roughing the passer call. Some even called for him to face a suspension after the hit.

Fans on X expressed their disgust for the officiating crew's decision not to throw a penalty flag. One said that other veteran quarterbacks would have gotten a flag for that call and others said it was quite obvious it was a roughing penalty.
"And the ref, watching the whole thing in front of him, decided not to throw a flag. Classic!" one fan said about a penalty not being called.
"any other QB in the league theres 20 flags thrown. NFL do better," suggested another fan.
"That was a bull**** hit. No flag??" another upset fan said.
O'Connell's injury led the team to turn to Desmond Ridder to come in at quarterback. Fans were quick to realize that there was a high probability that Ridder would make the start against his former team, the Atlanta Falcons, next week.
"The week before the Raiders play the Falcons. Can’t make this up," said one person regarding Desmond Ridder playing.
"Raiders are a mess," declared one person on X.
"No late hit????" questioned another.
Injury update on Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell
Aidan O'Connell left Sunday's game at Raymond James Stadium on a cart with his leg in an air cast. It was unknown what the exact injury the 26-year-old had suffered, but shortly after the Raiders did reveal a little more information.
The official X account of the Las Vegas Raiders posted that O'Connell had suffered a knee injury to his left leg.
"#LVvsTB Injury Update: QB Aidan O'Connell (knee) is OUT," the Raiders account posted.
Although the NFL officiating crew calling the game didn't penalize Kancey, the NFL could review and issue a fine if they see fit.
