Since Tom Brady joined the Las Vegas Raiders' ownership group, rumors have swirled about how much say he'd have in the franchise's offseason moves. Neither the seven-time Super Bowl champion nor the team has clarified whether he had an input in the franchise's decision to fire head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Tedesco and replace them with veteran Pete Carroll and John Spytek, respectively.
However, the new head coach is banking on Brady's expertise to help the Raiders bounce back after a dismal 2024 season. In his introductory press conference on Monday, Carroll said he and the top brass plan to pick the five-time Super Bowl MVP's brain and consult him before making any major decisions. He said:
“It’s our mission to build this football team up around the quarterback position. This isn’t the only spot. We happen to have the greatest of all time to help us and to see clearly, and we’re going to lean on Tom [Brady] as much as we possibly can for his insights because nobody has the insights that he has. He’s that unique.”
Tom Brady to play a role in shaping Raiders' future
Pete Carroll revealed that Tom Brady doesn't only intend to chime in on the Raiders' personnel decisions, but also help shape the team's new identity and bear responsibility for the team's success and failure on the field. The veteran head coach added:

“He is one of the great competitors to have ever lived, and for me, that’s a chance to understand more deeply where that comes from. This is his opportunity to put his stamp on a franchise. … He will continue to be involved, and we’re going to lean on him like crazy.”
Carroll's admission suggests the New England Patriots icon was on board with the team's decision to bring in the former Seattle Seahawks head coach to flip the franchise's fortunes. The Raiders have entrusted the 73-year-old with the responsibility of bringing the best out of the roster and working closely with new general manager John Spytek to ensure they add players from the 2025 NFL draft and free agency to turn the team's tide.
However, Brady will seemingly be in the war room with the duo leading the charge as he did for 23 years on the field for the Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
