Earlier this year, Tom Brady ended speculation about his potential return to the NFL as a player when he joined the Las Vegas Raiders' ownership group as a minority stakeholder. The seven-time Super Bowl champion will have to sell his stake if he wants to return to the league, which is likely out of the question.

While Brady may not be able to directly influence the Raiders' future, he will certainly play a role in shaping it. On Wednesday, franchise owner Mark Davis, asked about the team's strategy for the 2025 NFL draft, confirmed that the retired quarterback will have a say in it.

Responding to whether he wants the Raiders to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick, Davis said:

"You'd have to talk to (Raiders general manager) Tom Telesco. And, of course, Tom Brady at some point will have something to say in that."

Shedeur Sanders to Raiders? Tom Brady could convince Deion Sanders to let it happen

The Raiders have been hunting for a new franchise quarterback since Derek Carr's exit at the end of the 2022 season. They hold the first pick in the draft and could pick a signal-caller with it.

The most obvious choice would be Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders. He's expected to be the first quarterback taken off the board, so if the Raiders want him, they could have him, but there's a small issue with that.

They will have to convince Buffaloes coach and Shedeur's father Deion Sanders that they can surround him with the right coaching staff and talent to maximize his potential. The Pro Football Hall of Famer has made it clear that he and his son intend to blacklist a few teams from picking him in the draft.

Given the Raiders' dismal history of developing quarterbacks, they could be on the list of franchises Deion and Shedeur ask to pass on him in the draft. However, Tom Brady could step in and convince the Hall of Famer and his son that the $6.7 billion franchise would be the ideal landing spot for the young quarterback.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion committing to guiding and nurturing Shedeur could convince Deion to allow the Raiders to draft him. As things stand, it's likely that the Buffaloes star will continue donning a black jersey when he switches from college football to the NFL in 2025.
