Lamar Jackson had a very strong case to win MVP of the 2023-24 regular season, which he did after setting career-highs in completions and passing yards. But if preseason practice is any indication, he may be in for a monstrous regression in 2024-25.
On Monday, Jamison Hensley, ESPN's Baltimore Ravens insider, reported that the dual-threat quarterback had been intercepted again by cornerback Marlon Humphrey - the fourth time it has happened in camp:

"Who has Lamar been throwing to on these throws?" one fan wondered.
More fan reactions to Jackson's pick can be seen below:
"Wtf," one said.
"So Trevor’s not the only qb struggling," another said, referring to Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence.
"Someone told Lamar it was a big game," another claimed, a not-so-subtle dig at Jackson's iffy track record in the playoffs.
Lamar Jackson speaks up on joining camp after illness
Now, to excuse Lamar Jackson, he has not exactly been in the best physical state after missing three of four sessions lately. However, he believes he is slowly regaining his elite form.
Speaking to reporters, he said:
“I know what time is it right now. It’s camp time. So with me going down for a couple days, my mind was still in it. Like I got to hurry up and get better, so I can be out here with my guys,” Jackson said per the Baltimore Banner.
When training camp began, head coach John Harbaugh revealed a very lofty vision for the two-time MVP: to become the greatest of all time. But while Jackson appreciates it, he acknowledged that he had to win a Super Bowl first to bolster his case:
"I appreciate that coming from coach," Jackson said. "Keep doing what I'm doing, keep trying to get better, win these games, reach that goal. I'm not the G.O.A.T, Tom Brady (is). But I believe that's motivation. I appreciate that.
"Patience is the key. Only a few quarterbacks have won a Super Bowl in the last few years. A lot of people haven't won... I want that real bad. I'm just focusing on what I can control and go from there."
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens begin their preseason against the Philadelphia Eagles on August 9. They begin their regular season at the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs on September 5.
