Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will take on the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round of the 2024 NFL playoffs in arguably the best duel of the second week of the postseason. The duel against Lamar Jackson should be one for the ages considering everything that's at stake for both quarterbacks.

On Wednesday, Jackson's coach John Harbaugh talked about the challenge of facing Allen, calling him the "ultimate competitor" while recalling a story of the quarterback swinging on Terrell Suggs during his rookie season.

"I mean, ultimate type competitor, you know, obviously he's got, he's a fiery personality - saw that his rookie year. I remember he came over the sideline and him and Suggs or something. I don't know what happened. He got hit on the sideline or something. He came up, he came up swinging, man.
"And I respected that, you know. And I did tell him, I said, 'Whoa, whoa, calm down.' And I saw him at the Masters like that next year, next spring, and had a chance to hang out with him. He was there with Sam Darnold and had a few laughs about that whole deal. But a lot of respect for him, competitive guy," Harbaugh said.

Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times wrote in 2018 that Allen was "quick, elusive and strong," citing the play in which he escaped 265-pound Pro Bowl linebacker Terrell Suggs on a run against the Ravens.

Josh Allen has since become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but he's failed to lead the Bills to a Super Bowl or even an AFC championship win. Sunday's game will be a duel between the two top MVP candidates and Harbaugh knows the job won't be easy.

Super Bowl champion says Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson need to get out of the shadow of Patrick Mahomes

Ahead of this matchup, former Super Bowl champion Andrew Whitworth talked about the narratives surrounding Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. During Tuesday's episode of his podcast with Ryan Fitzpatrick, Whitworth said that they have had success in the regular season but have failed to show up in the postseason.

Whoever wins this game might have the chance to go up against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game if the Chiefs beat the Texans. Not only Allen but Jackson will need to be the ultimate competitor to take his team to the promised land.
