Baltimore Ravens All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey believes Deion Sanders could be the perfect match for the Dallas Cowboys, despite potential clashes with Jerry Jones.

The discussion involves three prominent NFL figures: Humphrey, the Ravens' defensive standout, Sanders, the Hall of Fame cornerback turned college coach and Jerry Jones, the Cowboys' owner searching for his seventh coach since the team's last Super Bowl victory in 1995.

On Thursday, Humphrey shared his thoughts about the Cowboys' coaching situation during his "Punch Line Podcast."

"I think Deion is the perfect guy that can actually stand up for Jerry, stand up to Jerry," Humphrey said. "If Deion signs a freaking three-year deal that's obviously all guaranteed, he ain't gonna just be taking a lot of crap from Jerry like it's gonna be a lot of head butting to where Jerry either loses or starts firing."

The timing of Humphrey's comments aligns with ESPN's report that Jones has reached out to Sanders. This created a buzz around the NFL playoffs despite the Cowboys failing to reach the postseason.

Jerry Jones' pursuit of Deion Sanders is all about the brand

Marlon Humphrey emphasized the marketing potential of bringing Deion Sanders to Dallas.

"Someone told me that Jerry had a meeting with them it was like this is all about the star like this is all about the brand," Humphrey said. "Nobody is better than that than freaking Deion Sanders. One, the brand is gonna go even higher, you gotta respect him as a coach, he's done it."

Sanders' response to Jones' interest carries significant weight.

"To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it's intriguing," Sanders said on Monday, via ESPN. "I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it's intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community."

According to NFL insider Ed Werder's Thursday report, Sanders "would almost certainly accept" the Cowboys job if offered. People close to the Hall of Famer are pushing him to pursue the opportunity, while Jones appears "enamored with the idea."

The potential hiring marks a shift in Jones' recent coaching strategy. The Cowboys owner typically favors steady, experienced NFL coaches. Sanders brings college success but no NFL coaching experience, transforming both Jackson State and Colorado's programs into contenders.

The stakes remain high for Dallas. The Cowboys have posted three consecutive 12-5 seasons with Dak Prescott at the helm. NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Sanders "would go to Dallas and be thrilled to coach Dak Prescott". This suggests the potential hire focuses on immediate success rather than a complete rebuild.
