NFL fans had a lot to say after referees made a controversial call against the LA Rams on Sunday. The officials ruled a clear completion as an incomplete pass, which forced Sean McVay to challenge the play. The original ruling was overturned, allowing the Rams to advance through the field.

Once the situation was clear, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the referees. ESPN draft analyst Field Yates pointed out how odd the situation was, urging the league to help referees make better decisions.

"A clear catch. Ruled incomplete. The sky judge couldn’t even step in to overturn the call on the fly and prevent the Rams from having to challenge. Let’s get it together," he tweeted.

More fans joined the discussion, noting that referees haven't been sharp this round.

"Refs are having a rough weekend," one fan said.
"Incompetence from the #NFL officials AGAIN. They have every angle they possibly could and still miss 10+ egregious calls a game," another fan said.
"Insane how many easy calls they’ve missed this weekend already," another fan wrote.

Others went after the sky judge, saying it's never worked.

"i don’t think i recall the replay assist / sky judge ever working for the underdogs," one fan said.
"The “sky judge” is a bad thing if coaches have to challenge at all," another fan said.

The positive note is that the Rams scored a touchdown after the original call was reversed. Matthew Stafford found Tyler Higbee, the same player who starred in the supposed incomplete pass situation, for a four-yard passing touchdown.

NFL referees were under heavy scrutiny during Chiefs-Texans

Before this Tyler Higbee play, NFL referees were under the spotlight, and not for the best reasons. Plenty of fans criticized the performance of officials during the first game of the divisional round between the Kansan City Chiefs and Houston Texans on Saturday.

It all started when Will Anderson Jr. tried to sack Patrick Mahomes and made contact with the Chiefs quarterback's helmet, but the three-time Super Bowl champion acted as if he was hit by the defender. The referees called a roughing the passer penalty, awarding the Chiefs 15 yards.

Moreover, when two defenders tried to tackle Mahomes and missed, the referees called an unnecessary roughness penalty although they clashed with each other while completely skipping Mahomes.

Fans are paying extra attention to NFL referees' calls this weekend, and they seem to be quick to point out their apparent mistakes.
