Rex Ryan is set to interview with the New York Jets, whom he coached from 2009 to 2014 and led to the AFC Championship Game twice consecutively - their best run of success since the days of Joe Namath, on Tuesday. And already, he has a very intimidating goal in mind should he be accepted and inherit Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback.
Speaking on ESPN New York Radio's DiPietro & Rothenberg Show on Monday, the current analyst lambasted the multiple-time MVP for his detrimental antics - like skipping mandatory minicamp to vacation in Egypt - and vowed to completely reduce, if not eliminate, his influence on the team:
"If he comes back, things would be different," Ryan said. "If he's back, it ain't gonna be the country club. Show up whenever the hell you want to show up? That ain't gonna happen."

Rex Ryan "100 percent, absolutely" confident that Jets will name him head coach
As for Rex Ryan's chances that the Jets will re-hire him, he had a confident response and explanation for why he thought so:
"100 percent, absolutely. The reason I think I'm going to get it is because I'm the best guy for it," Ryan said. "It ain't close. The thing you have to do is, you have to connect with your football team, with your fan base. The way they play, that's the most important thing."
He even issued a diss to Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who had once been linked to the coaching search before definitively announcing that he would be rejecting all HC offers:
"I love him, I absolutely love him, but I'm a better candidate for this job than he would be."
Continuing further, Ryan also opined that the Jets were "not short on talent" - boasting these Pro Bowlers and top contributors:
- RB Breece Hall
- WR Garrett Wilson
- DT Quinnen Williams
- DE Will McDonald IV
- LB CJ Mosley
- LB Jermaine Johnson II
- LB Quincy Williams
- CB Sauce Gardner
- S Tony Adams
He then blamed those players' struggles on a "lack of organizational leadership." Former head coach Robert Saleh had been fired after a 2-3 start amid reports of instability within the organization. Six weeks later, general manager Joe Douglas followed him into unemployment.
