Tight end Rob Gronkowski retired from the NFL this off-season after an 11-year career and winning three Super Bowls.
While Gronk mulled retirement this off-season and the off-season before that, he ultimately decided to step away from the game to start a life post-football.

Some thought Gronk might sign after training camp, pre-season, or early on in the season, but there's still no sign that Gronk will return.

While the Bucs are 3-3 through the first six games of the season, many think it would be beneficial if they could convince Gronkowski to return to the team.
Robert Griffin III is one of many who think Gronk should sign with the Bucs and come out of retirement.
RGIII Tweeted:
"The @Buccaneers were 4-14 on 3rd down and 1-4 in the red zone last week. They NEED ROB GRONKOWSKI back like a pair of old slacks. Last 2 years Gronk opened up the field for the O and helped them be top 5 in red zone efficiency. Fox is waiting on Brady, they can WAIT ON GRONK TOO."
Gronkowski helps out with red zone efficiency. According to teamrankings.com, the Buccaneers rank 22nd in touchdown red zone efficiency with 50 percent. Last season, they finished with 65 percent efficiency in the red zone.
A big target like Gronk opens things up for other receivers and running backs, as teams tend to focus on his massive frame in the endzone.

On April 21, 2020, the New England Patriots traded Rob Gronkowski and a seventh-round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a compensatory fourth-round pick. The move reunited him and Brady as the two won two Super Bowls in New England.
In his first season with the team, he recorded 45 catches, 623 receiving yards, and seven receiving touchdowns. In his second season with the Bucs, he recorded 10 more catches (55) for 179 more yards (802 yards) and six touchdowns.
The Bucs just lost tight end Cameron Brate to a concussion in last week's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he could miss some time. With the team being 3-3 and down a tight end, adding Gronk would be highly beneficial.
