On Sunday, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will host Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship Game in what will be the fourth playoff meeting between the two sides in the last five years.

The Chiefs are 3-0 against the Bills in their postseason duels. However, Buffalo will back themselves to end their playoff losing streak against the reigning Super Bowl champions having already beaten them once in this campaign in the regular season.

However, since that defeat in Week 11, Kansas City has lost only one game. The Denver Broncos thrashed the Chiefs' backup players, 38-0, in the two teams' regular-season finale. They are 7-1 since that loss to the Bills.

According to Robert Griffin III, the key to their exceptional form has been Mahomes and the offense's ability to limit turnovers. The analyst warned Buffalo that they'll have to force the quarterback to commit errors and get takeaways to stand a chance of winning and advancing to the Super Bowl:

"The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t had a turnover in 8 straight games. Last game they had a turnover? Buffalo Bills Week 11. Patrick Mahomes had 2 ints, but has played clean ball since... Protecting the ball is always a MASSIVE key to winning, but for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs it’s been their secret sauce to winning this heavyweight matchup when it matters most," RGIII posted on X.

Patrick Mahomes stats: QB has become an elite game manager

In his first five seasons as a starter, Patrick Mahomes built a reputation for being the most explosive quarterback in the league with his otherworldly passing prowess and penchant for throwing deep passes.

In that span, he averaged 303.3 passing yards and 2.4 passing touchdowns per game. However, his averages dipped to 261.4 and 1.7 in the 2023 season. He also threw a career-high 14 interceptions.

In 2024, his numbers as a passer regressed further. He averaged a career-low 245.5 passing yards and 1.6 touchdown passes per game. However, he tossed only 11 interceptions, the third-fewest since he became the starter in 2018.

The Chiefs no longer boast the explosive offense that made him a household name and helped him win two MVP awards. However, the team has continued to win and will play conservatively on offense as long as the defense dominates as they have over the past two seasons.
