San Francisco 49ers first-rounder Ricky Pearsall was shot in a robbery incident in San Francisco's Union Square on Saturday. Sean Cunningham of FOX40 reported that the first-round pick was shot through the chest in a robbery attempt over a Rolex.
At the time of the incident, Pearsall was headed to a signing event. The player and the gunman fought for the gun and both were shot and taken to the hospital afterward.
Plenty of fans took to social media to condemn and lament this event.

"My gosh, that’s horrific and scary. I know he’s stable but he needs our prayers 🙏🏼🙏🏼," one fan tweeted.
"just awful. it shouldnt have to be this way," another fan said.
"Holy s**t, that's intense. Ricky's lucky to be in stable condition after getting shot in the chest. Hope he has a speedy recovery," another fan wrote.
Other fans criticized the city while sharing their surprise at the fact that Pearsall was shot through his chest.
"Shot in the chest? Holy sh*t... Praying he pulls through," one fan said.
"Pray for Pearsall and that SF can come back from the brink," another fan wrote.
"thats supposed to be the 'safe' part of San Fran too," another fan chimed in.
While this situation keeps developing, NBC Bay Area reporter Gia Vang adds that the suspect is in custody and the rookie is in stable condition.
Ricky Pearsall was the No. 31 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Florida, years after he shared touches with newly extended Brandon Aiyuk. He partook in six of 19 training camp practices before going down with an injury on Aug. 6.

Ricky Pearsall suffered a subluxation at the start of August, according to Kyle Shanahan. He missed all three preseason games due to hamstring and shoulder injuries, with the second keeping him on the sidelines for 20 days.
Earlier this week, Shanahan announced that Pearsall would return to practice.
Ricky Pearsall started 12 games at wide receiver for Florida last season, leading the team in receptions with 65, receiving yards with 965 and receiving yards per game with 80.4. He had six total touchdowns, four receiving and two rushing while rushing for 62 yards.
