Bill Belichick was hired as the coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels in December. Now that there are six head coaching vacancies in the NFL, some believe he could decide to leave his new role before he even gets on the field.
There are rumors that Tom Brady, who is now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, may try to convince Belichick to join his team. Former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski, who caught passes from Brady in New England and Tampa Bay, doesn't believe that he would want a defensive-minded coach for the Raiders.
Gronkowski said on Wednesday's episode of the "Up and Adams Show" that he believes Brady will lean towards an offensive-minded coach. Gronkowski thinks that the former quarterback would be able to relate to someone on the offensive side of the ball more than a defensive coach.
"I feel like Tom's going to want an offensive minded coach," Gronkowski said. "I mean, he loves defense. He knows defense wins championships and all. But with Tom being a quarterback, the greatest of all time, he wants an offensive-minded coach. I think Tom will enjoy the process more being able to talk to an offensive-minded coach as well, to give his opinion on what the offense needs to do. ... I feel like that he will be in the mix, and his pause, like you said, will be in it, and he'll be given his two cents, and they'll be listening to his two cents as well."

Las Vegas parted ways with Antonio Pierce on Tuesday after he was hired last offseason. He was the interim coach for the Raiders in 2023 after Josh McDaniels was fired in that season.
Teams have contacted Bill Belichick regarding NFL return
In December, Bill Belichick signed a five-year contract with the University of North Carolina. He departed the New England Patriots after two decades.
Recently, his new role at the collegiate level is in question. According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, Belichick has been contacted regarding the open NFL coaching positions. Teams have questioned whether Belichick would consider leaving the Tarheels.
"Multiple NFL teams have inquired about whether legendary coach Bill Belichick would reconsider his move to college football – including the Raiders, whose new minority owner Tom Brady spoke recently with his old coach, per league sources," Pelissero wrote on X.
According to Pelissero, Belichick's contract includes a steep $10 million buyout if he leaves the program before June 1.
