Rob Gronkowski roasts Cowboys, plays down team as Super Bowl contenders

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski is not all in on the Dallas Cowboys for 2022. Despite Dallas being 9-3 ahead of the Houston Texans showdown, 'Gronk' sees them as less than in the hunt for the Super Bowl.

Having won five out of their last six games heading into Houston, Gronk wasn't having any of the hype surrounding America's team. Speaking on FOX NFL Sunday, the surefire future Hall of Famer laid it all out and he had one word that should stick in the paws of Dallas' players and coaches - Pretenders.

"But you also can't forget about the Minnesota Vikings. They have a better record than the Dallas Cowboys. And are the Dallas Cowboys pretenders or contenders? And history states that they're pretenders every single year."

Gronkowski must have a short memory. He is correct that Minnesota had a better record than Dallas prior to Sunday's games (Vikings loss and Cowboys win means both now sit at 10-3). But he must have forgotten that Dallas beat the Vikings 40-3 in their own building a few weeks ago.

In Sunday's games, the Vikings lost to the Detroit Lions and Dallas barely scraped past the Texans. But the overriding factor when it comes to Dallas is that when everything is going right, they will find a way to shoot themselves in the foot.

It wasn't pretty, it wasn't good viewing, but at AT&T Stadium, Dak Prescott and his offense got into gear when they needed it most. One could easily argue that the Texans were the better team through three and a half quarters as they led 23-20.

After a Prescott interception inside his own 20-yard line with five minutes left in the fourth quarter, many thought it was over. But a goalline stand that saw DeMarcus Lawrence make a huge run-stuffing play, they held Houston to a field goal.

Prescott got the ball back with a little over three minutes remaining and drove 98 yards in 11 plays that finished with an Ezekiel Elliott touchdown with around 40 seconds left.

The win moves Dallas to 10-3 after they survived a major scare and attention now turns to Jacksonville next Sunday.
