Fans feel Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson's era may have reached its breaking point after his team lost 19-17 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.
With just 45 seconds remaining and the ball at their own 42-yard line, Russell made a baffling decision. Instead of throwing the ball away or stepping out of bounds, he scrambled for a meager three-yard gain and burnt precious time. Steelers Nation, however, was less forgiving. They are questioning the viability of their QB, who will make $39 million this season.
Sports commentator Mark Madden took to X and wrote:
"Can’t bring Russ back. O-line stinks. Receiving corps is ***t. Pickens should try to hitch a ride out of town with Skenes. The entire coaching staff blows goats. In some ways, this is HILARIOUS."

"The Russell Wilson experiment is over," wrote one fan.
Another commented, "It’s embarrassing to be honest. It is laughable that such a great franchise has come to this."
Meanwhile, a third fan reacted:
"I was just thinking same thing! It’s the funniest shit I’ve seen in a while! Hell the 80’s were better than what’s going on with the Steelers at this point!!"
More NFL fans joined in with their responses.
After Russell Wilson's misstep, blunders compounded as the Steelers failed to snap the ball until the clock hit 25 seconds. Following this, a subsequent sack by Bengals star Trey Hendrickson sealed the Steelers' fate.
For the Bengals, the win was a beacon of hope in an otherwise tumultuous season. Their star QB Joe Burrow completed 37 of 46 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown.
What’s next for the Russell Wilson's Pittsburgh Steelers?
The Steelers’ postseason outlook is grim. Entering the Wild Card round with zero momentum, they are set to face either the Houston Texans or the Baltimore Ravens.
When QB Russell Wilson joined the Steelers, expectations were pretty high. He led the team to a 6-1 record in his first seven starts and gave some hope for a return to AFC North dominance.
However, as the regular season came to an end, the script flipped. Four consecutive losses later, the Steelers' playoff hopes hang by a thread.
