Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has been at the mercy of NFL trolls over the last season. Since leaving the Seattle Seahawks, his actions and abilities have all been put into question.
The Broncos' losing record this past season hasn't helped and now another cringe-worthy moment is being criticized by fans.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith was named the 2022 NFL Comeback Player of the Year after he led his team to the NFC Wild Card round. The Broncos quarterback retweeted the announcement and congratulated Smith.
"Congrats 7!"

NFL fans were quick to troll the Broncos quarterback for congratulating the man who took his job when he left. Some were saying that Smith was better than him. and others that he was congratulating him even though it wasn't the official award.
This honor was voted on by NFL fans through FOX Sports while the NFL Comeback award will officially be announced just a few days before Super Bowl LVII at the NFL Honors.
There were some heartfelt messages for Wilson as well. Something he could probably use more of given how the season went. Here are some of the reactions:
Drew Brees believes that Sean Payton will help Russell Wilson rebound in 2023
The Denver Broncos hired Sean Payton as their new head coach this week. Payton will now be tasked with turning the Broncos around, including revamping the offense around Russell Wilson.
Wilson was once among the best in the league at his position and his reputation has taken a battering in a relatively short period of time. It's not just how the Broncos performed, but also how the Seahawks succeeded in his absence.
Wilson has got to be low on confidence and restoring his self-belief will be key in turning Denver around.
Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has given his opinion on Payton's new job. Brees said that this will be the best thing for Wilson and that he believes we will see the best of him in Denver:
“To me, this is set up to be Russell Wilson’s prime, especially with Sean Payton and a system that’s going to be built around him… This is a great opportunity for Russell Wilson.”
Drew Brees is very familiar with how Sean Payton runs the offense. After the San Diego Chargers gave up on Brees due to a possible shoulder injury, he was able to rebuild his career under Payton. The two even went on to win a Super Bowl together.
Could that now be in Russell Wilson's future?
