Russell Wilson has credited the impact of his father Harrison Wilson III’s teaching on his successful career and life. Wilson is a longtime proponent of his father’s mantra ‘Why not you?’ He stuck to it as he made a generous donation toward the upliftment and betterment of the country’s youth.
Wilson’s late father was a collegiate athlete and a prominent attorney who died from complications related to diabetes in 2010.
“My father instilled a ‘Why not you?’ attitude in me. Asking myself that every day since has gotten me where I am today,” The Pittsburgh Steelers QB once said regarding his father.
In the same spirit, Wilson started a non-profit organization ‘Why Not You’ in 2014. On Sunday, the 2014 Super Bowl winner donated $50K through his organization to the 'Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania.’ The organization has been instrumental for youth since its founding in 1888.
