Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is set to become a free agent this offseason, but he's made his intentions clear on whether or not he wants to return back as the Steelers' quarterback.
After moving on from Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph last year, the Steelers signed Wilson, who became a free agent after the Denver Broncos released him.
With Wilson set to become a free agent, he told the local Pittsburgh media on Monday that he would like to return back next season in the Black and Yellow.
Wilson said:

"That's the plan. I love it here. I think we have a great football team. Obviously it didn't end the way that we wanted it to, and I think there's a lot more to do. Like I've said to you guys before, I just trust God and the process."
Russell Wilson made his debut for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7 after returning from a calf injury.
He won his first four starts with Pittsburgh and went 6-1 in his first seven games as the team's starter. Then, everything went downhill from there. Wilson and the Steelers lost their final four regular-season games and then suffered a first-round exit in the playoffs as they fell to the Baltimore Ravens this past weekend.
Wilson finished the season completing 63.7 percent of passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions.
Russell Wilson is open to returning back to Pittsburgh, but do they want him back?
While Russell Wilson has kept the door open for a return to Pittsburgh next season, will they offer him a contract?
The Steelers have been in weird quarterback situations since Ben Roethlisberger retired following the 2021 season. In 2024, they signed Wilson and acquired Justin Fields via trade from the Chicago Bears for a sixth-round pick. Fields started the first six games of the season for Pittsburgh, going 4-2 before Wilson took over, coming back from his calf injury.
Fields wouldn't start another game for the rest of the season, but would be used occasionally in short-yardage situations. Like Wilson, Fields will enter this offseason as a free agent.
The Steelers will have some big choices to make on whether they will re-sign either or move on from Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. If they move on from both, they'll likely look towards the draft for their replacement. They could draft a quarterback even if they bring one or both back too.
