Could the New Orleans Saints use their first-round pick on Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker?

Hooker has been getting a lot of buzz recently for being a first-round pick. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Saints are flying Hooker in tomorrow for a visit.

The Saints currently hold the 29th number overall pick in this year's draft. They signed Derek Carr as their quarterback this season but could possibly take a flier on Hooker.

Hooker is regarded as a top-five quarterback prospect in this year's draft and seems like he could be a first-round pick.

Hooker has been one of the best college quarterbacks on the field for the last two seasons.

As the starting quarterback for the Volunteers, he's won 15 games and went 9-2 as a starter last season. He's thrown for 6,000 yards and 58 touchdowns in the last two seasons.

Hooker would be a top-ten pick in the draft if it weren't for tearing his ACL last season.

Hendon Hooker is a prime candidate to be picked in the mid-first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He could slide into the second round and be a bargain for a quarterback-needy team or a team looking for a franchise quarterback in a few years.

This off-season, the Saints inked Derek Carr to a four-year $150 million deal after the Las Vegas Raiders released him.

The team chose not to re-sign Andy Dalton, who played games for them last season, as he signed with the Carolina Panthers this off-season. They did, however, re-sign Jameis Winston to serve as Carr's backup.

If the Saints were to draft Hendon Hooker, he could become Carr's eventual successor. Carr will be entering his 10th season in the league and the Saints may move on from him after his four-year contract is up. Drafting Hooker would now allow him to recover from his ACL injury and develop behind a good veteran.
