Saquon Barkley had a terrific first season with the Philadelphia Eagles after a tumultuous exit from the New York Giants, the team that drafted him and where he spent six seasons. The veteran running back proved doubters wrong with his remarkable performances, becoming the ninth player in the NFL to reach 2,000+ rushing yards in a single season.

After the regular season ended, Barkley kept collecting wins. On Friday, Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac noted on X (formerly Twitter) that Barkley secured a $500,000 bonus, bringing his total earnings for the season to $14.75 million.

More than that, the former No. 2 overall pick will have the chance to get $12.25 million in 2025. Barkley signed a three-year, $37,750,000 deal with the Eagles last offseason, including an $11,625,000 signing bonus and $26,000,000 guaranteed. The best part of this is that Barkley is just entering his prime and his stats could get even better next season.

His incentive and escalators include $500,000 for becoming a First-Team All-Pro, $250,000 for becoming a Pro-Bowler, $250,000 for racking up 1,500+ scrimmage yards and $250,000 for collecting 2,000+ scrimmage yards. He can still take $500,000 more if the Eagles win the conference and the Super Bowl, per Spotrac.

Saquon Barkley was 101 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson's record

Saquon Barkley could have finished the NFL season with one of the most impressive records in league history. With 2,005 rushing yards, he was just 101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's single-season record set in 1984. However, head coach Nick Sirianni chose to rest Barkley for the regular-season finale against the Giants, preventing him from having a chance at the record.

This decision was met with criticism from many fans, but legendary coach Bill Belichick sided with the team. He said:

"It's about championships. Individual records are nice, but that's when they come with championships. But I think you play for you're teammates and you play for your team and you play for championships. So, that's kinda the way I was brought up and the way I looked at it."

Barkley had a terrific first season in Philadelphia and if he keeps playing at this level, he might finish his career with incredible numbers.
