Sauce Gardner's take on Sketch controversy wins fans over: "Most likeable Jet of all time"

New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner has weighed in on the conversation regarding streamer Sketch. The controversy surrounds the wildly popular Madden NFL streamer and a now-leaked "Only Fans" video from two years ago.

Gardner shared his take in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday evening:

"Sketch handled the situation better than a lot of people would've. The same ones that loved him before all of this will love him after and if they don't then they didn't really love him to begin with. People go thru tough times and it promotes growth. I stand with him."

Sauce Gardner's support for Sketch, whose real name is Kylie Cox, gained backing from New York Jets fans, with many applauding Gardner.

"Annnnnd Sauce is now the most likeable Jet of all time." A fan commented.

"Just became one of my favorite players cause I can tell based off your reaction you’re a good dude," another user said.

Sketch streams Madden games on his Twitch account, which has 1.1 million followers, and his YouTube channel has over 500,000 subscribers. His popularity as a streamer has also allowed him to gain over one million followers on TikTok and Instagram.

The Houston Texans even selected Sketch to announce their fourth-round draft pick in the 2024 NFL draft, which they used to get tight end Cade Stover out of Ohio State. Comments on Gardner's post suggested that Sketch might have ended his live streams if not for supporters like the Jets cornerback.

"Sauce has spoken. The people are listening," one fan stated.

"If it wasn’t for people like you, we wouldn’t have sketch with us right now. Keep it up sauce!" Another user agreed.

The barrage of praise for Gardner continued:

Sauce Gardner responded to report of him 'hanging out' with former mob boss

Over the 4th of July weekend, a video of Sauce Gardner with former mob boss Joey Merlino at a party in Florida surfaced. NFL Insider Dov Kleiman shared the video and questioned the nature of their interaction. To this, the athlete responded:

"Dov, it's funny because I know that you know I wasn't "hanging out" with him. Rent must be due eh?😂"

During the party, Merlino filmed a video with the cornerback and made a special request. He wanted Sauce Gardner to make an appearance on his podcast, "The Skinny Podcast with Joey Merlino". The athlete, however, has not clarified whether he would appear on the podcast.
