Sean McVay gets blunt on possible Odell Beckham Jr. reunion as Rams make final playoff push 

Sean McVay is exploring all possibilities with his roster as the Los Angeles Rams prepare for a playoff push. That includes bringing back a few contributors to their Super Bowl LVI run, including a freshly-available veteran wideout.

Last Friday, the Miami Dolphins announced that they had cut Odell Beckham Jr</a>. after just nine games. He had been expected to become their third passing option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, only to find himself being surpassed by tight end Jonnu Smith, leading to his release.

Of course, the multiple-time Pro Bowler joined the Rams in 2021 fresh off his release from the Cleveland Browns, and was a starter throughout their playoff run, catching 21 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. But when asked whether a reunion was possible, McVay said (via LA Times' Gary Klein):

"That's not something we've talked about yet."

“I don't know. The love I have for Odell, you know that. Just waking up, kind of getting ready for what's next for us and focusing on this. I’m not really sure about him. I've had a lot of other things that we're kind of focused on right now," McVay said on Friday.

Sean McVay discusses potential Aaron Donald unretirement

Another former key player who has been speculated to return to Inglewood is Aaron Donald. The defensive tackle had shockingly retired during the offseason despite still being arguably in his prime, winning the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2022 and reaching the Pro Bowl throughout his entire decade in the league.

On the subject of a return to the Gridiron, McVay said he was more torn than anything.

"I have a really special relationship with Aaron. He has done so much, and he puts so much into everything," McVay said via FoxSports.com. "I would almost feel disrespectful reaching out to him, just based on the principles and knowing him the way that I do."

He further expounded on the conflict within himself:

"If that was something that he got interested in, then that would obviously be something that you're always open to, but I almost feel like it would be disrespectful to broach that subject with him, just based on our conversations and the clarity and the completedness that he felt like he had when he stepped away when he did."

The Rams are currently 8-6 and coming off a three-win streak, most recently defeating the San Francisco 49ers 12-6 on Thursday.

They visit the New York Jets next on Sunday with kickoff scheduled at 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT on CBS.
