Sean Payton is the biggest name in potential coaching hires this year. The Denver Broncos have reportedly received permission from the New Orleans Saints to interview him.
A few months ago, when it was clear that Nathaniel Hackett's Broncos were going nowhere, Payton offered up some ideas on how to correct their flaws.
Here's what he said on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd:"

"You correct flaws immediately and then we don't worry about how long the process is gonna take. In other words I'd wanna cut up today, I'd wanna cut up all of Russell's past plays of 30 or more yards from the field and I'd wanna see are there some schemes that he felt comfortable with."
He reminded the audience of what the Seattle Seahawks did so well with Wilson:
"Like I know they did a great job in Seattle of bringing him off of the naked boot and pulling up like we all saw that like throw back to Lockett across the field where the ball traveled 60 yards in the air."
He would want to revamp the playbook almost entirely if he were to fix the team:
"Then I'd want to another film of his red-zone touchdown passes inside the 20. So what I'm asking for from assistance is I'm asking for some of his greatest hits. And to make sure we have those song lyrics available, and if not, let's put them in.”
Since then, the team only got worse and Hackett was fired. Could Payton be the savior they need?
Is Sean Payton going to be the next Denver Broncos head coach?
It looks as if the Denver Broncos are currently all-in on Sean Payton. The season isn't even officially over, and they've already asked to interview him.
However, there is one major caveat standing in their way. The Saints reportedly want a first-round draft pick for the coaching rights of their former leader.
That's a steep price to pay for anyone, but the Broncos in particular are stretched for draft capital.
They gutted resources in the Russell Wilson trade and can't afford to give much more, even if it ends up being less than that first-round pick mentioned.
