Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers' 2024 season has gotten off to a horrendous start. On Friday, they lost 34-29 in their season-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

To make matters worse, the quarterback suffered an agonizing injury after being pincered in a tackle between Eagles defensive end Jalen Carter and linebacker Josh Sweat on the game's penultimate play.

The Packers athletic staff had to help Love off the field, which was a grim sight for the team and its fans. Videos of the QB trying to walk the injury off emerged on social media, prompting speculation that his injury wasn't as bad as feared.

However, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Love had suffered an MCL sprain and is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks. Packers fans were dismayed about Love's injury update, with some even giving up on the campaign.

"Yea season is over," a fan said.

Some fans were ecstatic about the update, considering there were concerns that the injury could rule him out for most, if not the entire season:

"Spent all night fearing it was season-ending ACL injury, this is amazing news honestly," @kellyann_nelson wrote.
"That was the best case outcome for the Packers," @Latenite72 claimed.
"Glad it's only a few weeks. Was worried it could be worse," @PRlopez0904 said.

Having received a timescale for Love's absence, the Packers will now turn their focus to filling up their quarterback room, which, as things stand, is remarkably understaffed.

Packers depth chart: Jordan Love's injury leaves only QB rostered

While most teams keep three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, the Packers came into Week 1 with Jordan Love and Malik Willis. The team acquired its second-stringer from the Tennessee Titans only two weeks ago. He's the only quarterback on the roster.

Willis will presumably be the starter in their Week 2 clash against the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field. However, the team will weigh their options and explore who's available before announcing that the former Titans quarterback will be under center in their next outing.

If the Packers do not sign another quarterback or trade for one, they'd likely activate former Penn State star Sean Clifford off the practice squad. It remains to be seen what direction the franchise heads to deal with Jordan Love's absence.
