Former NFL TE Shannon Sharpe feels Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' leadership is not just about winning, it’s about winning his way.
Taking to ESPN's "First Take," Sharpe compared him to a diva WR with an irresistible desire to control the narrative, no matter what the cost is.
“Jerry Jones would rather lose his way than win someone else's," he said. (00:12:48) "And there are a lot of people like that. When you hear people say, 'All I want to do is win,' but let me get 9 catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns, I don’t want to win getting 3 catches for 42 yards. Let me win with 27 points and 8 rebounds.”
Jones has always shown reluctance to step aside or adopt strategies, which doesn't align with Sharpe's vision.

Moreover, the analogy Sharpe made between Jones and a WR seeking personal glory — “but let me get 9 catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns, I don’t want to win getting 3 catches for 42 yards” couldn’t have been clearer.
Sharpe further pointed out that many people who say they want to win care more about their success in the win than the team's overall win.
Is Jerry Jones the cause of the failure of Dallas Cowboys?
The Dallas Cowboys have spent years trying to return to their Super Bowl glory days. And Jerry Jones, the team’s owner and general manager, is at the center of everything.
One big issue is that Jones is both the owner and the general manager, which is rare in the NFL. Most teams hire a GM to make decisions. However, Jones took up that role himself. This prevents the Cowboys from having an expert leader.
Jones also plays a big part in choosing and managing coaches. He often hires coaches who seem willing to work under his close supervision. For example, Jason Garrett stayed as head coach for 10 years. Thus, this has led to questions about whether Jones’ control has cost the team chances to bring in top-level coaches.
When it comes to players, Jones has had both hits and misses. The Cowboys have picked star players like Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb in the draft. At the same time, there have also been mistakes.
Coming to the positive part, Jones has also made the team the most valuable sports franchise in the world. The Cowboys are currently worth $10.1 billion. They also regularly finish seasons with winning records.
