Shannon Sharpe and Patrick Mahomes would have been arch-rivals had the two both played in the AFC West at the same time. However, the former Denver Broncos tight end had joined the rest of the country in admitting that Mahomes was one of the perennial favorites to win the AFC.

However, after watching the struggling Las Vegas Raiders nearly upset the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback in addition to the Broncos earlier this season, Sharpe has seen enough. Speaking on Monday's edition of "First Take," Sharpe wrote off the signal-caller and his team.

"I'll be absolutely shocked if they make the Super Bowl ... I'm going to be shocked considering how poorly they're playing offensively because of the tackles. I'm starting to see a little slippage on the defensive side," he said.

Of course, he didn't write off the quarterback and his team from making a playoff run. As the quarterback in the driver's seat for the No. 1 seed, Mahomes would be only one home game away from the AFC Championship and two wins away from the Super Bowl. Still, Sharpe has lowered expectations against a run into February.

Patrick Mahomes has been known for winning games through the air, but his most recent outing had plenty of red flags. Between the miraculous Raiders mistake and slumped offense overall, the game was a win but still felt like a loss for many Chiefs fans.

However, the most alarming thing about the quarterback's performance was his completion percentage. Mahomes completed just 56.5% of his throws against the Las Vegas Raiders. This was his lowest completion percentage since November 20, 2023, against the Philadelphia Eagles, when he completed 55.81% of his throws.

Mahomes lost that game by one score, falling 21-17. If Mahomes has a similar performance in the playoffs or even in a potential game relevant to the seeding, his Chiefs could find themselves in a hole they won't be able to hope their way out of.

Sunday's 19-17 win against the Las Vegas Raiders marks the second time in four games that a Kansas City opponent was within field goal range but ultimately lost the contest. Will Patrick Mahomes be able to survive the next such situation as well?
