Shedeur Sanders discusses Cowboys' interest in his father Deion

The rumors about the Dallas Cowboys possibly hiring Deion Sanders as their next head coach have begun. Owner-general manager Jerry Jones has long considered the Hall of Fame cornerback one of his favorite players, and a reunion may soon become not just a mere possibility, but a reality after Mike McCarthy was not extended upon the expiry of his contract on Monday.

One of the people who would like to see it happen is Sanders' son Shedeur. Just as he was leaving halftime of Tuesday's Dallas Mavericks-Denver Nuggets game at the American Airlines Center, the graduating Colorado Buffaloes quarterback was asked about the possibility that his father would become the Cowboys' next head coach. He said:

“I think it would be cool. What do you think?”

The elder Sanders himself, meanwhile, has confirmed interest in the organization, but he has so far remained noncommittal. He told ESPN on Monday:

“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing. I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
