On Tuesday, wide receiver Amari Cooper was traded to the third team of his NFL career. The Buffalo Bills sent a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Cleveland Browns in return for Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick.

Cooper had been a name on the trade block and the move came shortly after the New York Jets acquired wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders.

The trade gives Bills quarterback Josh Allen a true No. 1 wide receiver since the departure of Stefon Diggs this off-season.

Cooper has made five Pro Bowls with three different teams in his career and has posted six 1,000-yard seasons in his career.

No, fans should not start Amari Cooper this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, even if it is a favorable matchup. And it's not because of his 'lack of production.'

With Cooper being traded on Tuesday, it will be tough for him to play five days later in a new organization. In fact, there is a chance that he doesn't play and takes time to understand the Bills' playbook well enough.

Even if Cooper does play, it will very likely be on a limited basis. It wouldn't be a surprise if Cooper were to suit up since he is a 10-year veteran and has been traded multiple times in his career.

Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady spoke to the local media on Tuesday for the first time about acquiring Cooper and whether or not he would be available for Sunday's game.

It seems as if the team has no timetable or certain expectation of Cooper playing this weekend if he does.

“We’ll see. Figure out what time he gets here. Part of the game-planning process and seeing what he can handle, if he can handle anything this week.
"We’ll just kind of go from there, not set any expectations. Just seeing what he can handle, what he can be comfortable with, what Josh can be comfortable with him. If it’s this week, it’s this week. If it’s next week, it’s next week,” Brady said.

In the six games played this season, Amari Cooper has recorded 24 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns with the Cleveland Browns.

Deshaun Watson has struggled at quarterback this season for Cleveland, and at 1-5, they figured to get some value in return for sending Cooper.

Despite a slow start to the 2024 season, Cooper has shown he's still a productive receiver.

Just last season, he set a career high in receiving yards with 1,250 yards and had the highest average yards per catch (17.4) in a single season.

Cooper could play this weekend on a limited basis with Buffalo, but he should definitely be ready for Week 8. Cooper will very likely be Buffalo's No. 1 receiver, especially given that they gave up a third-round pick for Cooper.

Khalil Shakir is Bills' current leading receiver with 249 yards, one yard less than Cooper.
