Skip Bayless takes huge shot at ‘over the top’ Russell Wilson with Broncos in complete disarray

Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos have not had the season they imagined this offseason. After having genuine Super Bowl hopes, new head coach Nathaniel Hackett was just fired and Wilson has looked completely lost.

Outwardly, Wilson has said a lot of the right things and has tried to be a leader in a very broken locker room. NFL analyst Skip Bayless isn't buying one bit of it.

On "Undisputed," Bayless said the following:

"When I try to analyze what he's saying about Nathaniel Hackett, I appreciate it, but he just goes over the top, on and on. I'm to the point where I tune out what Russell Wilson says publicly because it's just PR platitudes, a lot of phoney-baloney to me."

He continued:

"It's hard for me to believe that he believes what he's saying. He's just saying what you want to hear, what he thinks Bronco Nation wants to hear. He just goes on and on."

He continued, roasting the Broncos' quarterback:

"It's funny, Russell and [Tom] Brady are the flip sides of each other. They're both public phonies... Brady tries to do this... comes off as corny, cliche... I don't think Russ is a good guy... When he goes behind closed locker room doors, I don't think they like him."

Bayless and others might be able to swallow this persona better if the Broncos weren't as bad as they are. Though Wilson acted like this while winning in Seattle, it didn't matter as much.

Now, with the Broncos 4-11 and with no future, it's not nearly as enjoyable.

Moving on from him would be difficult and it would mean admitting defeat on the massive trade package they sent to the Seahawks for him, so it's not all that likely. There are ways to do it, but the easiest path is to try and find a head coach who can make Wilson look like a serviceable quarterback once again.
