"So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful" - Peyton Hillis' partner Angela Cole shares critical update about former RB's recovery

Last week, former NFL player Peyton Hillis was hospitalized for saving his children from drowning in Pensacola. Hillis ended up suffering from kidney and lung challenges and was fighting for his life post the heroic act.

Hillis remained unconscious for days and was in the ICU for a long time.

However, it was a recent update by his partner Angela Cole that Hillis is now on the way to recovery. A positive sign was his ventilator coming off, while Cole referred to him as the hero of her life.

The most recent update also came with a heartfelt message from the actress which explained her feelings about the situation. After all, it was a heroic deed and could have ended up with Hillis easily losing his life.

That being said, the 36-year-old is clearly a fighter.

"A hero," Cole wrote. So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful for family and this incredible hospital".

She added:

"Peyton is off the ventilator and is on the road to recovery. Please continue to pray for he’s still got a ways ahead of him, but thank you for all of your prayers and love and support thus far. It truly makes all the difference. Today was a good day".

Earlier, Peyton's uncle Greg shared an update on his facebook account, stating that while he was doing better, Hillis was still in intensive care.

When did Peyton Hillis meet Amanda Cole?

As per reports, Peyton Hillis has been dating Cole for quite some time.

The couple met each other in 2021 on the set of a horror movie, The Hunting. They started dating after the film wrapped up.

Hillis played a werewolf in the film, while Cole starred in an important role. Earlier on July 6, 2022, Cole confirmed their relationship status. The actress ended up sharing a few photos of them, while adding a sweet caption to go with it:

"Sometimes there’s someone that comes into your life and changes everything. I’m so incredibly grateful for you," she wrote.

At the beginning, however, Cole referred to Hillis as a great man no matter what anyone told her.

That being said, Peyton Hillis has received countless well-wishes from fans across the globe. They have been praying for his fast recovery, a result of his selfless act.

Hillis was selected during the 2008 NFL Draft's seventh round. He started with the Denver Broncos before moving to his home team, the Cleveland Browns in 2010. He played with the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Giants before retiring in 2015 after a head injury.
