John Mara, the New York Giants owner, is likely going to be awake for a long time the next few weeks as he said on "Hard Knocks" he would not be able to sleep if running back Saquon Barkley went to the Philadelphia Eagles. Well, not only did the Eagles sign Saquon Barkley, but he had one of the best seasons in NFL history and was a key component to the team making the Super Bowl.

Barkley ran for 118 yards and three touchdowns as Philadelphia routed the Washington Commanders 55-23 in the NFC championship game on Sunday.

Social media users discussed how they were not fans of Mara and his decisions.

"Who knew that 1 poor decision by 2 men, John Mara and (Giants general manager) Joe Schoen, would change the entire landscape of the NFL," one person commented on Twitter.
"RIP Joe Schoen's son wanting to draft Jayden Daniels video, long live John Mara not being able to sleep video," one account posted

Fans continued to pile on John Mara's decision.

"Joe Schoen is terrible at his job. However he was right in not giving Barkley a contract in our current state. I despise Philly beyond words, but a piece of me is enjoying knowing that MORON John Mara is going to bed miserable tonight. He deserves it," one Twitter user wrote.
"The New York Giants have sent the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl. Congrats to John Mara, Joe Schoen, the front office, multiple Giants and podcasters and experts. You are all to thank for this. May you all live a thousand years," one commenter wrote.

While the Philadelphia Eagles are in the Super Bowl, the New York Giants finished 3-14 and hold the third pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

What will the New York Giants do in the 2025 NFL draft?

John Mara and the New York Giants are in a position where they need to figure out the quarterback position. There has been a connection between the Giants and Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Sheduer Sanders, and that seems to be the likeliest option.

The two teams picking before them are the Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Browns. Tennessee has already said it's going with a generational talent, which many people do not consider any quarterbacks in this class as such. Cleveland still has Deshaun Watson under contract and could be eyeing Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward if they choose a signal-caller.
