Former NFL CB Stanley Wilson found dead at 40

Former Detroit Lions cornerback Stanley Wilson Jr. was found dead at a mental hospital at Metropolitan State Hospital in Los Angeles County earlier in February.

Wilson Jr., who was 40 at the time, was transferred to the facility earlier in the month. He was earlier in police custody due to a vandalism arrest in back in August of last year.

How did Stanley Wilson die?

According to TMZ, Wilson collapsed and was found dead by caretakers at the facility. While police have ruled out foul play, results of his toxicology are yet to arrive.

He was the son of former Bengals running back Stanley Wilson Sr. whose career was cut short due to his cocaine addiction.

Wilson Jr had a tough time with the law and his most recent arrest took place after he allegedly broke into a Hollywood Hills home, took a bath in an outdoor fountain.

Prosecutors declared him incompetent to stand trial resulting in his transfer to the hospital.
