Russell Wilson and the Steelers got a lesson from the Chiefs in offensive football in the first quarter of their matchup on Christmas Day. Kansas City scored two straight touchdowns as Pittsburgh had to punt the ball away on multiple occasions. They finally got something going, with the score already 13-0 against them at home.
They reached the red zone and thought they had a rushing touchdown, but it was called back for an offensive holding penalty. Russell Wilson decided to take matters into his own hands and get his team on the board. Unfortunately for the Steelers, he got a bit too brave and threw the ball into triple coverage. It predictably led to an interception and the end of a promising drive.
Pittsburgh fans were frustrated with their veteran quarterback's lack of judgment on that throw and took to X/Twitter to blame him. Here are some of the reactions, with one tweeting:

"Wtf was Russell Wilson thinking? ..."
Other Steelers supporters were minded to blame the refereeing crew for taking off the touchdown on the previous attempt and pushing them back 10 yards because of what they thought was a spurious penalty. Here are some comments highlighting that sentiment.
"Yeah after the refs gifted KC." - complained one.
"THIS OFFICIATING CREW SUCKS… NFL OFFICIATING IS HORRIBLE…" - moaned another.
"Refs took points off the board right before this" - concurred a third.
Russell Wilson redeems himself with rushing TD for Steelers against Chiefs
Russell Wilson gained some measure of closure on the next drive for the Steelers. They again had a chance to score their first touchdown after a couple of good plays before that. As they went into the red zone, they needed to get at least six points to remain in the game.
Russell Wilson again had the ball, and, this time, he decided against throwing. Instead, he rolled back the years by scrambling out of the pocket and diving for a touchdown as the defenders converged on him.
It made the score 13-7 and suddenly made it competitive. It also brought the crowd back to life. The defense also picked up from there and limited the Chiefs on the next drive.
Wilson made a mistake but remained calm enough to redeem himself on the next drive. His experience might not have saved him from throwing an interception, but it certainly helped in terms of leadership under tough circumstances.
