Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has shut down the possibility of coaching a different team next season. The 52-year-old coach came under fire after the Steelers were eliminated from the 2024 NFL playoffs by the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round.

Amid rumors and speculation about his NFL future and the possibility of rival teams calling to inquire about his availability, Tomlin sent a short yet direct message to the front office considering the idea.

"I have no message. Save your time," Tomlin said on Tuesday (per Brooke Pryor).

After a poor performance against the Ravens on Saturday night, many fans were calling for Tomlin’s firing, but Steelers owner Art Rooney has reportedly decided that Tomlin isn’t going anywhere.

Tomlin has a no-trade clause in his contract, meaning he’ll have control of his future even if the Steelers decide to negotiate with another team. He added that he’s not planning to step down anytime soon.

Despite the painful defeat against the Ravens, Tomlin expressed his desire to return to work and prepare for the next season.

The Super Bowl XLIII champion coach still has three years remaining on his current contract, which runs through 2027. Even after his comments, it doesn’t seem like conversations about his future will stop anytime soon.

Since taking the reins of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007, Tomlin has been a consistent coach, posting a 183-107 record. He has never had a losing season with the Steelers, but the lack of success in the postseason has frustrated fans.

Stephen A. Smith names Mike Tomlin a good option for the Dallas Cowboys

ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith named Mike Tomlin a good option to become the Dallas Cowboys’ next head coach. Tomlin was named the No. 3 candidate Smith’s top five candidates, behind only Bill Belichick and Deion Sanders.

“I am not advocating for Tomlin to leave my Steelers, but if you’re talking about a dude that’s going to resonate with cats in that locker room, if you gave Mike Tomlin a quarterback, maybe he’d have a playoff victory since 2016,” Smith said.
“Dak Prescott’s supposed to be that dude, right? … I think Mike Tomlin would be an upgrade.”

The Cowboys parted ways with another Mike on Monday, Mike McCarthy, but it doesn’t seem like Tomlin will be his replacement at AT&T Stadium.
