The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the more successful teams in the last few decades as they have been a consistently winning organization. However, one of the team's biggest question marks has been with the quarterback position as Justin Fields started six games while Russell Wilson played the remaining games.
During the end-of-season press conference, Pittsburgh Steelers owner Arthur Rooney II shared his thoughts on the situation and said the future quarterback of the team was someone who already played for them this season. However, he only wants to keep one of Fields or Wilson.
"I think they're both capable quarterbacks and my preference would be to sign one of them, so that'll be the priority and I think that will give us the best opportunity to move forward," he said (via Brooke Pryor).

Both Wilson and Fields are unrestricted free agents as the Steelers head into the offseason. It will be interesting to see who coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan will pick as the quarterback for the 2025 season.
Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 Offseason Plans
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of offensive pieces that are going to be free agents as wide receiver Van Jefferson, left tackle Dan Moore Jr., right guard James Daniels, and running back Najee Harris are just some of the non-quarterbacks who are technically no longer under contract as unrestricted free agents.
Getting a few offensive pieces is going to be critical as the team struggled offensively. They finished the 2024 season 27th in passing yards per game (192.0), 11th in rushing (127.4), and 16th in scoring (22.4 ppg). This was the first season under offensive coordinator Arthur Smith as well.
The Pittsburgh Steelers need to get some playmakers and there are a few solid wide receivers that the team can target like Chris Godwin, Stefon Diggs, and DeAndre Hopkins to name a few. Then, the bigger question is trading defensive stars for offense as their defense is one of the best in the NFL but they have been unable to parlay that into postseason success.
Getting a playmaker and figuring out the running back situation is going to be critical for the Steelers to take that next step and win a playoff game for the first time in almost a decade.
