Brian Daboll might be hard-pressed to find something to be thankful for this holiday. Between losing Saquon Barkley and being relieved of Daniel Jones, the New York Giants coach has been forced to use every ounce of his human ability to keep some semblance of a team together and morale under control.
The job appears to be a nightmarish spot to be in, so he wants out. At least that is what one NFL analyst believes. On Thursday's edition of "First Take," Stephen A. Smith argued that Daboll wanted to be "let out of his misery."
"I think he wants to lose it. I don't think Brian Daboll wants to be there," Smith said (04:28). "The GM deserves to be fired. Brian Daboll deserves to be let out of his misery. Those are two different things. You put him in a pinch.

"The GM was feeling himself [with Saquon Barkley]. It was unforgivable. How you saw on Hard Knocks and how he came across. Yes, It's unforgivable."
Daboll would not be the first Metlife Stadium-based coach fired this season. The New York Jets parted ways with Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas in October.
Exploring potential Brian Daboll landing spots
Brian Daboll may or may not be coaching his last Thanksgiving game for the New York Giants. If this is his last holiday with the team, he may have some options for his next landing spot. While it has been some time since his team had its 2022 playoff appearance, that alone puts him at least even with some other candidates.
One potential landing spot could be on the other side of the stadium. The New York Jets have a mobile quarterback in the form of Aaron Rodgers. Daboll has coached Josh Allen, so it might be a fit.
Daboll would also get the opportunity to get his own Allen to develop behind Rodgers. If it works, the Jets could find themselves relevant in the December playoff picture once again.
Another potential landing spot could be with the Chicago Bears. If the Bears want someone who has proven the ability to develop a QB and with years of coaching experience, Daboll is their guy.
There is also the chance of him landing as a coordinator with any of a dozen teams that will be looking to fill new positions on other teams. However, this would likely be the least desired outcome for Daboll.
